Instructor Profiles

Chief Instructor - Ruairi OBrien

Mr. OBrien began his Tae Kwon Do training in a local club in Cobh, Co. Cork in 1990. It was here that Mr. OBrien attained the rank of 1st Degree Black Belt in 1994 at a grading conducted by Mr. Pat White.

Over the years, Mr. OBrien has trained under many instructors, most notably Master Don Dalton, 7th Degree Black Belt and Chief Instructor of Irish United Tae Kwon Do Federation (IUTF) and Master Norman Creedon, 7th Degree Black Belt. Mr. OBrien successfully graded for his 2nd and 3rd Degree Black Belts under Master Creedon.

In 2002, Mr. OBrien opened his first solo club in Cobh, Co. Cork, followed by clubs in Whitechurch, Co. Cork and in Cahir and Cashel, Co. Tipperary. In May 2003, he achieved Best Grading Award while testing for his 4th Degree Black Belt under Master David Oliver, 7th Degree Black Belt and President of Tae Kwon Do International.

He served for three years as Team Coach of the Irish Tae Kwon Do International Team. On the 1st January 2005, Redking Tae Kwon Do was officially launched. The club has thrived since and has teamed up in partnership with Mr. Trevor Fradgley, 4th Degree Black Belt and Chief Instructor of White Dragon Martial Arts.

Over the years, Mr. OBrien has helped countless students achieve their goals, increase their fitness and raise their self-esteem.

School Instructor Clerihan, Co. Tipperary- David Lonergan

David began training under Mr. OBriens instruction in Cashel, Co. Tipperary. David has excelled in all aspects of his Taekwon-do achieving high scores at grading and numerous tournament wins in all categories. David has been training consistantly since he began and has become a great addition to the instructing staff at Redking Taekwon-do.

She has particularly excelled in all aspects of her Taekwon-do achieving high scores at grading and numerous tournament wins in all categories. Lisa has been training consistantly since she began and was promoted to the rank of 2nd Dan in 2009. She has become a great addition to the instructing staff at Redking Taekwon-do.

Felix began training under Mr. OBriens instruction in Cahir, Co. Tipperary. He has excelled in many aspects of his Taekwon-do achieving numerous tournament wins in all categories. Felix has been training consistantly since he began and was promoted to the rank of 1st Dan in 2009. He has become a great addition to the instructing staff at Redking Taekwon-do.

Assistant Instructor - Amy Quinlan

Amy began training under Mr. OBriens instruction in Whitechurch, Co. Cork on the first day the club opened. At her first grading, she received a double promotion from the grading examiner. She earned her 1st Degree in 2006. Amy has been training consistantly since she began and has become a great addition to the black belt ranks.

For the past 7 years, Amy has assisted Mr. OBrien with the younger members of the Whitechurch club helping them with their basic techniques and patterns.
